Museum of Film and Television
The Deutsche Kinemathek is one of Europe’s most significant institutions for film and television history. It preserves, researches and communicates Germany’s audiovisual heritage — from early silent films to the present day. In 2025/2026, the Kinemathek moved to its new home in the former E-Werk in Berlin, where collection, archive and public programming come together across generous exhibition spaces to create a vibrant experiential environment.

Collaboration
STUDIO6 works alongside the Deutsche Kinemathek as a partner for show programming and media server technology. In close collaboration with the Kinemathek, we built a permanent media server infrastructure designed to support a wide range of audiovisual installations and events with flexibility. We also act as an ongoing technical consultant for current and future projects.

Screentime
With the multimedia installation Screentime, the Kinemathek’s hall is brought to life on a large scale for the first time. In collaboration with the institution’s specialist archives, highlights spanning 130 years of German film and television history were selected and woven into a shared experiential space. The installation reveals both the work behind the scenes and iconic moments from popular culture, unfolding the history of moving images as a layered, continuous process.
The installation comprises 5 large-scale projections, a 6-channel monitor installation, standalone TV islands, a multichannel soundscape, and selected artefacts from the film collections staged through timeline-controlled lighting.

Visualisation
For Screentime, we built a true-to-scale photorealistic 3D model of the E-Werk’s industrial hall, within which the complete video and lighting programming was visualised. We also set up a full test build of the installation at our own facility, where the show was pre-programmed. This allowed the Kinemathek team to gain a precise impression of the exhibition’s appearance well before the physical build began.
