“the fish will have to walk to learn on land” is a new 6-channel video installation with 6-channel video and 6-channel surround sound by Heiner Goebbels in collaboration with René Liebert (STUDIO6).

The installation was jointly was pre-developed and simulated at STUDIO6’s facilities before being finalized and premiered at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Busan, South Korea. The work marks a continuation of the long-standing collaboration with world-renowned composer Heiner Goebbels.

Heiner Goebbels’ composition includes oral recordings of rituals from the indigenous communities of Tulecuna, Baquerazavi Dobida, and Nasa (a region between Willa and Cauca).

The video recordings filmed by STUDIO6 originate from a previous collaboration in 2019 on the performative installation “Los Peces tendrán que aprender a caminar sobra la tierra,” 2019 in Bogota, Colombia @ Museo de Arte UNAL.
