Real-time Visualization for Contemporary Opera
The technical and aesthetic implementation of the production executes the concept of “Augmented Live Projection.” The staging integrates Unreal Engine with the media server system Pandoras Box to embed the actors into fascinating virtual worlds.
On stage, the actors perform in front of a Greenscreen, captured by two cameras. Above the Greenscreen is an expansive Cinemascope screen, where the keyed and virtual images are combined into a dynamic digital set design. This innovative technology creates a cinematic atmosphere that brilliantly blurs the lines between theater and cinema. The combination of Steampunk and Film Noir aesthetics crafts impressive, dystopian film landscapes, allowing each performance to be experienced as a visually captivating reinterpretation of the narrative material.
