What is this new geological epoch? Can the beginning of the Anthropocene be detected?
Over four days, “Unearthing the Present” – part of the long-term project “Evidence and Experiment” – took place at the House of World Cultures.
Current geological analysis was combined with the search for social and political measures for a transitioning planet.
How is a new geological epoch taking shape? What do Earth’s sediments reveal about the present, and how do they determine the social choices being made today? The planet has entered the first phase of the Anthropocene: in this new planetary oddity, ecological patterns and social structures are beginning to change radically. Over the past two years, the Anthropocene Working Group (AWG) has been assembling stratigraphic evidence for the geological reality of the new Earth age.
STUDIO6 implemented the 9-channel video setup for the live events in the auditorium.
